CHAPTER I: OF THE DESCRIPTION

The International Fair of Puppets and Objects-FITO-RD- It is an annual event carried out by the Fundación Teatro Cúcara-Mácara, Inc., in which professional, national and international groups, exhibit their puppet shows, laminated objects and visual theater. In the FITO-RD, together with the theatrical activities, there will be collateral activities related to the child and family population, such as mini-book fair, games, gastronomy, animation and sale of articles of children's and family interest, among others. The FITO-RD emerged in March 2018, to commemorate the 37th Anniversary of Cúcara-Mácara and the world day of puppets and theater for children and youth. To date, there have been three successful consecutive editions.​

CHAPTER II: OBJECTIVES

Among others, the fundamental objectives of the FITO-RD:

• Encourage the programming of puppet theater and animated objects for family and adult audiences, in public and independent spaces.

​

• Motivate our playwrights, young and old, to write pieces for puppets and objects.

​

• Promote the emergence of new puppet groups, and encourage existing groups, to occupy the space won by puppets in the Dominican Republic during the decades of the 80s. and 90s.

​

• Contribute to the creation of the necessary audience for puppets, animated objects and visual theater.

​

• Be an ideal space for the presentation of puppet shows, objects and visual theater.

​

• Convene an annual meeting of professionals (creators, programmers, playwrights, designers, interpreters, nationals and foreigners), dedicated to puppet shows, objects and visual theater, to reflect on puppet theater and exchange experiences.ctacles of marionnettes, objets et théâtre visuel, pour réfléchir sur le théâtre de marionnettes et échanger des experiences.

For the selection of proposals, the following aspects will be established:

• Artistic quality.

• Innovation.

• Universality of the show.

• News of the show.

• Theme.

• Mobility (easy transfer).

• Adaptation to spaces (conventional, alternative, open air, among others).​

TITLE II: ABOUT THE CALL

The Fundación Teatro CÚCARA-MÁCARA, Inc., CALLS ON professional theatrical groups, national and foreign, with puppet shows and objects for families and adults, to present their requests to participate in the 4th. International Fair of Puppets and Objects, to be held from March 21 to April 3, 2022, in the main theaters of the city of Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.

The reception of applications for participation is open from the publication of this call, until Sunday, January 16, 2022, at 12:00 midnight, local time in the Dominican Republic. The results of the same will be announced on Monday, January 31, 2022.​

TITLE III: OF THE BASES OF THE CALL:

CHAPTER III: OF THE PARTICIPANTS:

1. All professional theatrical groups, national and foreign, can participate with puppet theater shows and objects for children and young people, or suitable for all audiences, with proposals for theaters.

​

2. The works proposed must have been premiered.

 

3. The proposed shows must be spoken in Spanish, or their understanding does not depend on the verbal text.

​

4. The duration of the shows must NOT be less than forty-five (45) minutes, nor greater than 1 hour.

​

5. After the groups have been selected, under no circumstances may they make changes to the composition of the cast without first letting us know in writing and, if it is verified that the cast has changed without our knowledge and consent, we reserve the right of admission to the event. , and the invitation and any commitment contracted with the selected group will be declined, with the consequent withdrawal of the -FITO-RD- programming, under all kinds of reservations.

6. The theme, style and content of the proposed show are completely free for the applicant group.

​

7. Applicant groups must provide a recording of the work with a fixed camera and without editing effects, providing a link from YouTube or another platform, from where the complete work can be downloaded; also, synopsis of the work, five (5) photos of it in good resolution, not less than 300 dpi; reviews of the work, journalistic reviews, CV or history of the group, details of the cast, duration of the show, plans of lights and sound, technical needs, required stage space, time of assembly and disassembly of the show.

8. The groups must adapt to the conventional and / or alternative spaces (in size and technical equipment, lighting and sound) of which the FITO-RD 2022 will have.

9. In order not to detract from the quality of their shows, groups must bring their sets and props.

​

10. The organization reserves all the rights to record and broadcast audiovisual and editorial of the shows, workshops, debates, conferences, and lectures held during the event, for the purposes it deems appropriate.​

IMAGE RIGHTS

The FITO-RD will use the images provided by the groups only and solely for promotional purposes, reserving the right to use the material provided by the company for present or future promotional purposes.

DERECHOS DE AUTOR

Neither the Fundación Teatro CÚCARA-MÁCARA, Inc., nor the FITO-RD, are responsible for the payment of copyright, so the groups and creators will be responsible for the payment of copyright, even if they were their own. In any of the cases, the applicant group must present the documents proving that it is the custodian of copyright, sending a copy of the corresponding copyright for the work that it registers with the FITO-RD.​

CHAPTER IV: OF THE CATEGORIES AND FUNCTIONS TO BE PERFORMED:

• The international groups will carry out four (4) functions of their show, plus a workshop for young theater students and / or public school teachers.

​

• The national groups will carry out the contracted functions.

​

• Applications for shows will be accepted in the different modalities, techniques, trends and schools of puppetry and object theater.​

​

CHAPTER V: FROM THE DATE OF THE FESTIVAL:

The 4th. International Fair of Puppets and Objects, will be held from March 21 to April 3, 2022, in the main theaters of the city of Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, being able to open branches in the interior provinces.

​

CHAPTER VI: CONDITIONS OF PARTICIPATION:

• The organization is responsible for the accommodation, food and internal transfers of the artists who are members of international groups, from one (1) day before and until one (1) day after their participation in -FITO-RD-2022. It is understood by internal transport: receiving and saying goodbye to the international delegations in the terminal of the International Airport of Las Américas.

• Other additional transfers and outside the hours established in the event's programming, will be paid for by the group that generates them.

 

Understand by food (breakfast, lunch and dinner), served from the varied typical Dominican cuisine.

​

We are NOT responsible for diet meals, or special diets, or vegetarian.

​

• The groups, national and foreign, must be willing to make possible changes in the programming of their functions and to carry out additional functions, as well as to participate in media tours that will be carried out by radio, television and newspaper stations, according to their theme and technical conditions, and participate in the parades near the Festival venues to promote the event.

​

• The organization guarantees the performance of four (4) functions of the show for each selected group and, in case of performing additional functions to those programmed, the FITO-RD will pay an additional payment for each extra function performed.

​

• International groups will NOT be able to coordinate, contract or agree on functions, talks, workshops, talks or any other type of related activity, with national or international producers, or with other Dominican or foreign cultural institutions or organizations, outside of the programming at our event, without the prior authorization of the FITO-RD. If something like this has happened, our institution will cancel all agreed responsibility, under all kinds of reservations.

• Any activity carried out by the groups outside the Festival program will be at their own risk and expense, releasing our organization and the FITO-RD from any responsibility or obligation.

​

• All members of the participating groups, national and foreign, have free access to all the shows and activities of the Fair.

​

• Participating international groups must send, by email, no less than 30 days in advance, the date, time, airline and flight number on which they will arrive in the Dominican Republic and return to their respective countries.

​

 • The International Fair of Puppets and Objects-FITO-RD-, DOES NOT COVER PLANE TICKETS.

TITLE IV: OF THE ECONOMIC CONDITIONS:​

​

ECONOMIC CONDITIONS:

The international companies participating in the 4th. FITO-RD will receive a cache of USD $ 1,500.00 (One Thousand Five Hundred American Dollars) or its equivalent in Dominican pesos, for four (4) performances of their show, plus a workshop that they will dictate.

​

NOTE: The payment to the groups will be paid after their last scheduled performance.

​

a) Payment to national groups will be paid for functions performed, according to the contractual agreement agreed between the parties.​

​

OF THE AWARDS AND MENTIONS:

b) The -FITO-RD- Awards will be awarded by category, as follows:

• Prize -FITO-RD- Best Direction • Prize -FITO-RD- Best Interpreter • Prize -FITO-RD- Best Adaptation • Prize -FITO-RD- Innovative Proposal • Prize -FITO-RD- Best Children's Show • Prize -FITO -RD- Best Youth Show, among others.​

CERTIFICATES TO BE GRANTED

c) All participating groups will receive a certificate of participation.

 

d) Once the evaluation process has concluded, the selected groups will receive notification of their selection to be part of the 4th program. International Fair of Puppets and Objects (FITO-RD 2022), having from the receipt of the notification, a period of three (3) days to ratify their participation in the event, sending the Letter of Commitment duly signed and sealed, in the to ratify your decision to participate in the event. Failure to comply with this provision in the established time, leaves us free to substitute and revoke the invitation to participate in the FITO-RD.

The free and formal request to participate in the 4th. International Fair of Puppets and Objects (FITO-RD 2022), implies by itself, the conscious acceptance of the conditions of participation that are established here.
